Sounds are often considered secondary properties of the objects, and are not usually archived and preserved alongside images and material elements in museum collections. But sound is one of the most powerful medium to transport us back in time. It can offer an entirely new way to connect with the past and it is able to stimulate an immersive, emotional and embodied experience of objects, places and people's lives. In this experiment, I have combined an image of a Spinning Mule from the Bradford Industrial Museum with a sound recording taken by artist Janek Schaefer.

Very evocative Stefania- and it will be interesting to see what happens when we overlay sound to extracts from the oral history transcriptions.
